Make-Up Match Off 💄💄💄 L'Oreal vs Maybelline 💄💄💄

This week, after spending most of Sunday testing out lip products for the blog, I thought of an idea. Instead of talking about the pro's and con's of the different brands I tried out in separate posts, how about I put them against one another? That way, if you do choose to pick up these products, you'll be getting the best one.

The products I tried out were Maybelline's SuperStay Matte Ink - €12.99



And L'Oréal's Lip Paint/Matte - €8.99

I have heard great things about the L'Oréal lip paints but very little about Maybelline's Matte Ink but they are relatively new and sure what else am I writing this blog for, only to find out? I'm definitely more of a matte lipstick lover over glossy finishes but I find many make-up brands get the formula wrong for matte lipsticks and they end up flaking off or sinking deeply into the lips; so much so that you can make out every crack and fissure. Ew. Anyway, lets see how they faired up to one another below 👇


Round 1: Price
L'Oréal wins this round. Not only is the tube bigger - L'Oréal's Lip Paint is 8ml while Maybelline's Matte Ink is 5ml - L'Oréal costs less at €8.99, whereas Maybelline is €12.99.
Winner: L'Oréal

Round 2: The Swatches

Maybelline's SuperStay Matte Ink

 L'Oréal's Lip Paint/Matte

Maybelline is the clear winner in this round. The product swatched well, the colour achieved using one stroke. With the L'Oréal, I had to reapply 2/3 times to get the colour above.

Winner: Maybelline

Application for both the L'Oréal and Maybelline was incredibly easy, due to the wand being contoured to the shape of the lips for both products. Maybelline's product prevailed here again, the colour intensity present after just one application. The product was creamy, coming out quite glossy for some shades -such as Voyager- but dried to complete matte. In terms of the L'Oréal it was perfectly fine but that was it - it was only "fine". The colours were nothing spectacular and -evident in Hollywood Beige- it peeled closer to the mouth.

Winner: Maybelline

Round 4: Range

This one I believe is up to the individual. Maybelline's Matte Ink comes in 10 shades, with a variation of colour from muted nudes to more vibrant shade, such as Creator (which I adore!!). L'Oréal's Lip Paints come in 9 shades, mostly in varying colours of nudes. Therefore, if you prefer nudes/daytime shades, opt for L'Oréal. But, if you prefer vibrancy, even for your darker shades, go with Maybelline.

Winner: Maybelline & L'Oréal

AND SO THE WINER IS....**DRUMROLL** Maybelline's Matte Ink!! Despite it being that little bit more expensive, I loved every part of the product. If you like any of these colours and want to try it out for yourself, as usual these can all be picked up in Finnerty's Pharmacy and any pharmacy that stocks L'Oréal and Maybelline.
